Live Longer

Having a healthy heart can be a key ingredient in living longer

Not sure you can do this? I've got a story for you...

Approximately ten years ago I experienced a heart attack. I decided that I was going to make lifestyle modifications to, lose weight, decrease my cholesterol, fat intake, and stressors to improve my heart health.

After experiencing a heart attack, I increased my exercise routines and followed my doctor's orders. Within 10 days I lost weight and all my lab work with respect to my heart attack or cardiac lab results came back within normal limits.

Today, I am extremely happy that I have a new lease on life and I plan consistently to make daily dietary and healthy lifestyle changes to benefit me and my family. I know there is hope for me and others because help is available through teamwork integrated with inter-collaborative health care services and evidence-based research strategies.

I believe that we are stronger together, that health is wealth, and that teamwork makes the dream work. I highly recommend taking incremental steps through the program offerings in Heart, Health, and Home because preventing heart attacks and strokes, and recovery after heart attack and stroke, is not only possible, it is important.

Living healthy, learning to make healthy choices daily, and growing stronger and healthier means the world to me and my family. Without getting my heart healthy I would not be alive today, 10 years later. I am a grateful recovering heart attack survivor.

I have not experienced a heart attack since that fateful day. I have two stents in my heart and I am intentional about keeping my blood flow as healthy as possible because heart health matters.
